Albany Weather

Albany experiences a Mediterranean climate and has warm summers and cold winters that has more rainfall than other seasons, especially in July. This climate makes Albany a popular holiday destination.

The Southern Ocean contributes to Albany's weather, giving Albany sea breezes during summer and humidity throughout the year. Albany weather also incorporates many cloudy and drizzly days, and is aptly termed the 'Rainbow Coast'.

Because Albany is situated on the south coast, its easterly, northerly and southerly winds can draw in a large variation of weather - from hot temperatures with thunder and showers to fine and mild weather.

Albany's weather experiences its maximum temperatures in January and February with an average of 23 degrees Celsius. In comparison, temperatures decrease to a maximum average of 16 degrees Celsius or a minimum temperature of 5 degrees Celsius in winter.

Throughout the year, Albany has an average rainfall of 930mm, but this can vary year to year.
